Hailing from Rockford, Illinois with deep roots in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), SHEMON is a genre-blending artist, songwriter, and producer whose sound bridges the grit of ’90s R&B with modern soul.
His musical journey began early, playing drums in church at just three years old before teaching himself how to write and produce by age eleven.
Emerging as a staple in the DMV music scene, SHEMON quickly built a reputation as a go-to producer and creative force. He managed two major recording studios in Washington, DC, while helping develop and jump-start the careers of numerous rising artists. His early production work includes collaborations with Flex Kartel, Big Flock, Biggs Cooley, and Lightshow, setting the foundation for a career rooted in both artistry and mentorship.
SHEMON’s talents soon led to major industry placements, including work with Wale on “Love Me Nina” and “Set You Free,” both of which earned RIAA Gold certification. He also contributed to No Savage’s breakout record “Dirty 38,” which has amassed over 10 million streams.
In 2019, SHEMON relocated to Atlanta to further expand his artistry. There, he became a sought-after songwriter, working closely with hitmakers like Drumma Boy and Jazze Pha. His writing and production credits include work with Usher (contributing to sessions for his recent album cycle), Chris Brown, K. Michelle, Jawan Harris, Tiffany Evans, Dexta Daps, XayCapisce, Layton Greene, and Ne-Yo.
Stepping fully into his own spotlight, SHEMON launched his solo artist career with his debut single “Think Twice.” Now operating under his independent imprint, SL Records, he continues to release music that reflects his signature blend of raw emotion, funk influence, and contemporary R&B energy, including recent singles like “My Possession.”
